The first step in becoming an AMIGOS volunteer is to attend an information session with your parent/guardian. You may attend any one of our 5 info sessions to learn more about becoming an AMIGOS volunteer in the summer of 2011

Amigos de las Américas is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1965. AMIGOS collaborates with a network of Pan-American partner agencies and has no religious affiliation. To participate in AMIGOS, volunteers must:

• Be at least 16 years old by Sept 1, 2011 and have completed their sophomore year of high school by June 2011
• Have completed 2 years of high school Spanish (or the equivalent) before departure for Latin America
• Successfully complete the 8-month training program organized by the East Bay Chapter of AMIGOS
• Contribute a family fee (scholarships are available) and participate in chapter fundraising efforts. AMIGOS provides support for volunteers in their fundraising efforts.

Join us at Oakland Public Library, 125 14th St, Oakland at 2:30pm, Sunday Sep 26.
