We have our very last training retreat this weekend, and it looks like we will have great weather for our overnight campout!

Saturday May 12, 3 PM, to Sunday May 13, 10 AM

Anthony Chabot Regional Park, Hawk Ridge Group Campsite

VERY IMPORTANT!!! PRINT OR SAVE THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS. DO NOT RELY UPON GPS. –you could be given totally incorrect driving instructions/times. YOU NEED THE GATE CODE TO ENTER (emailed to you).

There is spotty cell phone/internet service in the park. The nearest pay phone and Park staff are at the Family Campground entry kiosk on Marciel Road.

Directions to Hawk Ridge Group Campsite, Anthony Chabot Regional Park

Driving time from the Redwood Rd exit from CA 13 is about 30 minutes, so for most of you it will take 45-60 minutes to get from your home to the campsite (note: there is a back route via Canyon and curvy Pinehurst Rd. Many cyclists!)

From CA highway 13…

Take the Redwood Rd exit toward Carson St.
Turn left at Redwood Rd. Follow Redwood Road east up into the hills.
Continue past Skyline Blvd into Anthony Chabot Regional Park.
Go about 6 miles to Marciel Road
Turn right at Marciel Gate, onto Marciel Road. Follow Marciel Rd for about 1.7 Miles. Watch for signs for the group campsites. On your right you will see a gate and signs to the group sites.
Turn right onto this unnamed road to the group campsites. You will have to open the gate with the CODE sent in the email.  Go through gate, stop to close the lock, and follow the road down the hill to Hawk Ridge. The campsite is at the very bottom of the hill at the end of the road.

  1. Do not attempt to drive to the park after dark. It’s too easy to get lost.
  2. Participants should bring: sleeping bag, sleeping pad, water bottle, warm clothes (layers), flashlight, bug repellent, a camping chair if you have one, a blanket/sheet for sitting on the lawn. Please sign up to bring tents and tarps to share.
  3. We have a limited number of overnight parking passes, so please carpool if you can.
