East Bay Information Sessions

The first step in becoming an AMIGOS volunteer is to attend an information session with your parent/guardian.

You may attend any one of the following  Information Sessions to learn more about becoming an AMIGOS volunteer in the summer of 2012:

Sunday Sep 25, 2:30pm: Oakland Public Library, 125 14th St, Oakland 94612.

Tues Sept 27, 7:30pm: Las Lomas High School (rm TBD),
1460 South Main Street, Walnut Creek 94596.

Saturday Oct 1, 2:30pm (en español): Kaiser Hospital Richmond,
901 Nevin Ave, Richmond 94801.

Wed Oct 5, 7:30pm: Stanley Middle School,
3455 School St, Lafayette 94549.

Thurs Oct 6, 7:30pm: St. Augustine’s Church,
400 Alcatraz Avenue, Oakland 94609.

Meetings will be bilingual English/Spanish as needed to accommodate Spanish-speaking families.

La reunión en el Hospital Kaiser Richmond se llevará a cabo en español, con inglés disponible.

Amigos de las Américas is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1965. AMIGOS collaborates with a network of Pan-American partner agencies and has no religious affiliation. To participate in AMIGOS, volunteers must:
  • Be at least 16 years old by Sept 1, 2012 and have completed their sophomore year of high school by June 2012
  • Have completed 2 years of high school Spanish (or the equivalent) before departure for Latin America
  • Successfully complete the 8-month training program organized by the East Bay Chapter of AMIGOS
  • Contribute a family fee (scholarships are available) and participate in chapter fundraising efforts. AMIGOS provides support for volunteers in their fundraising efforts.
