How to Get Involved in AMIGOS

You can start your journey with AMIGOS today and spend your next summer in Latin America by becoming an Amigos participant.

Follow these steps to become an AMIGOS participant with the East Bay Chapter:

  1. Attend an Information Session in September/October. The information session will provide you with an introduction to the program, and should be attended by prospective participants and their parent/guardian. RSVP to an information session by clicking here
  2. Complete a Participant Application. The application instructions are posted on the Amigos Application for Summer 2018 Page
  3. Attend a Family Interview. Family interviews generally will take place on October 21-22. Family Interview sign-ups will be conducted at the Information Sessions.
  4. Meet the Following Requirements throughout the year before departure for Latin America:
  • Attend approximately one training meeting a month between January and your departure to Latin America (June or July).
  • Attend approximately one Chapter meeting a month with a parent/guardian between November and your departure to Latin America. Meetings will take place weekdays and some weekends at various locations in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
  • Participate in Chapter January letter-writing fund-raising efforts. Participants who wish to defray a portion of the family fee will sell grapefruit, poinsettias, coffee and pecans in November and December.
  • Contribute a family fee to cover the costs of training and airfare to Latin America. Financial assistance is available.
