to

Head-Royce School, 4315 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland
Contact: Liz Flynn; eastbayamigos@gmail.com; 415-519-7845
Come find out what country you are going to and what project you will be on! Festive attire requested! Meet in the Community Room
Families are asked to bring food and serving utensils for the potluck, ideally a Latin American cuisine.
Don't forget to bring any donation checks you have received from your letter writing - with deposit sheets - with you. Also bring any remaining proceeds from product sales with deposit sheets.
Here are potluck food assignments for each team: (We expect about 175 people, including Board members. )
Monday team: 1/2 Main courses, 1/2 desserts
Tuesday team: Nonalcoholic drinks
Sunday evening team: Main courses
Two parents from each team should come at 4:30 PM and help
setup. At the end it would be helpful if everybody would put a hand
into cleanup, taking down the tables and chairs, and setting the room
back to its original configuration.
WE REQUEST THAT EACH FAMILY BRING THEIR OWN PLATES, CUPS, NAPKINS AND UTENSILS. Given that many of our host countries have a problem with waste disposal and lack of recycling facilities, we feel that it is Amigo's responsibility to be good, creative role models in this regard. Thank you.
Please keep in mind that ALL the project choices on your Assignment
Preference Forms are possibilities - the International Office does not rank them 1 to 5 when matching volunteers with projects, but rather leaves them all as possible options. No matter where you go, your experience will be what it is! So again, let's stay positive and open-minded.
PLEASE NOTE: Limited parking is available around the Head-Royce School Campus for School events, and visitors are advised to come early. Limited parking is available in the School's parking lot located off Lincoln Avenue at the east end of campus. Additional parking is available in designated areas on Lincoln Avenue. Please do not block driveways, or use them to turn around, do not make U-turns on Lincoln Avenue, Alida Street, and Alida Court. Do not park at the rear of campus, on Whittle or Funston Avenues. Please remember that you are a visitor in a residential neighborhood, so please be courteous at all times to our neighbors. To avoid being cited, do not park in bus zones, and note street sweeping signs.
East Bay Amigos Environmental Practices
Amigos East Bay takes very seriously its commitment to teaching and practicing environmental sustainability in our local chapter as well as in Latin America. In this regard we ask that board members, trainers, volunteers, and families adopt optimal recycling practices and consider carefully their use of natural resources, non-recyclable plastics and single-use, disposable products at all Amigos events. In particular, we ask that Styrofoam (polystyrene) not be used at Amigos functions. Its production and waste disposal are extremely problematic and consequently it has been banned by many cities (including Berkeley, Oakland, SF, and Portland), counties (Orange County) and countries (Taiwan).
